Describe what is visible
“At 01:12, I take two steps back before the opponent finishes” describes a sequence. “I was afraid” proposes an internal state that the picture alone cannot establish. Keep the first statement in the observation field and turn the second into a question if it matters.
Offer alternatives
The same retreat might reflect a planned distance change, a response to pressure, or another factor. Add the score, position and previous phrase before choosing an explanation. One isolated clip rarely supports a claim about a fencer’s usual behaviour.
Make uncertainty useful
Use labels such as “blade out of frame” or “scoreboard unreadable.” These tell a reviewer what additional evidence is needed. Keep the original timestamp and ask a focused question. You can still learn from a clip without making a firm judgement about every action.
